The Pre-National Assembly

Recently, the Pre-National Assembly & Outward Bond XV ALSA which took place at Griya Alam Ciganjur, Depok, West Java. was held on the 8th-11th of October 2008. There were two main events, which consisted of the Pre-National Assembly (8th-9th  October 2008) and the Outward Bound (9th-10th October 2008) that were organized in two different places. The Assembly was held at Ciganjur, while the Outbound at Sukabumi.

The Assembly was attended by all 12 Local Chapters from ALSA Indonesia.It was participated by three representative delegates from each Local Chapter, and It was also attended by 5 national board members acting as the presidium of the Assembly.

The first day of the Assembly began at 20.00pm, with several issues to discuss, such as The  XVth Pre-National Assembly’s Agenda, The Rules of Conduct of the Assembly, Local Chapter’s evaluation of activities, Local Chapter’s Activities Report, Possible Changes concerning ALSA National Chapter’s budget, Possible Changes regarding AlSA National Chapter’s Broad Guideline, Possible Suggestions concerning ALSA National Chapter’s Program , The Criteria of ALSA National Chapter’s President for the 2009/2010 period, The Progress of National Symposium and Workshop , The Progress of Mooting Court Competition, Makasar’s preparation for the National Assembly, Changes Regarding the rules of Open Tender., Study Trip Indonesia-Singapore Report, AAF 2008 Thailand report, Further Information of ALSIC Beijing 2009, and the Open Tender for ALSIC 2010 which is going to take place in Indonesia.

The first day of the Assembly was prolonged due to continuous interruptions by some of  delegates primarily concerning grammatical errors within the Articles.Despite the interruptions, the Assembly managed to finish the meeting and to discuss 1/3 of the issued agenda within the first day before 02.00 am.

The second day of the Assembly commenced at 09.00 pm to discuss the remaining issues within the agenda and finished at 00.30 am the next morning. There were several conflicts due to different arguments that led into a higher tension within the assembly , but was sucessfully managed by the national board.The Reports on several Local Chapter’s Activities was conducted with ease with less interruptions from the delegates.

The Assembly resulted in several consensus, such as the decision to set the maximum cost for National Assembly and Pre-National Assembly which hasn’t been altered until this very moment and the decision for The Alsa International Conferencere 2010 to take place in Semarang, as members from University of Diponegoro will act as the Project Officer.

The Evaluation concerning the results of the Assembly was held at the 10th October 2008 which was attended by 12 Local Chapter Directors, followed by the signatorial ratification of the 5 members of National Board.

The Outward Bound

Participants from 11 Local Chapter of ALSA, was held on the 9th – 10th October 2008 at Lido Lake Resort, Sukabumi. This time, the officials offered “Back to Nature” theme. Because of that, the officials tried to offer a new nuance by inviting all the participants to camp. The officials hoped with that theme, the participants can feel the real meaning of Outward Bound, which is not just have some fun with friends.

In Lido, the officials welcomed them by a lot of games which not only fun but also train their brains, test the harmonious of the team members and challenge their self-confidence too. All the games, like flying fox , raft racing, and etc,  were very exciting and increase the adrenalin of the participants.

At the night, after did all the Outward Bound games, all the participants and officials gathered together around the campfire. We played the limbo game and sang so many songs untill we dropped. Firstly, only the officials from ALSA LCUI that sang but lately the participants from the other local chapters started to join and sang songs too. It was so exciting because we could make a lot of new friends, exchange information from our own universities, and sing together for sure. And we also took lots of pictures the whole night.

On the last day (10/10), the Assembly participants came to Lido and join together with the Outward Bound participants. Then all the participants were divided into four groups and four places. One group did the rafting game in Citarik river, the second one did the water bike game in Lido Lake, the third one did the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) game, and the last group did the traditional games. The traditional games were very fun and exciting. There are so many traditional games that prepared by the officials, such as tug-of-war, take over the tennis balls, run using the bakiak, balap karung, etc

Then, after did all the games, all the participants went back to Wisma Ciganjur to attend the Closing Ceremony. All in all, the Pre-National Assembly and Outward Bound XV ALSA were executed very well. Bunches of thanks for all the participants for making this event fun and wonderful. Hope we can meet again in another event of ALSA. And for all of the officials , Congratulations guys, you had already did a great job. Thank you very much for all  that you have done to make this event success.
